The Summer Haircut

The Summer Haircut...........................
Well - it's a ritual of summer, isn't, it, especially for little boys???
You know, the short summer haircut - so it will be cool and clean for all the summer activities.
Well, this is our very longhaired cat, George... in his full coat...

And - you guessed it - today George got his summer haircut...

Now, I know he does look a bit like someone glued the wrong head on his body... but before you go report me to the Humane Society - he LOVES it... he lets us trim him without very much fuss at all.

And after the trim, he rolls around to scratch his back, and grooms off all that nasty dander that was hiding under his winter coat...
..... and it all grows back, anyway !!
Happy Summer Days coming up for everyone!

And - over there ---------> I have added a page with photos of some of my charity quilts, which I enjoy very much...
And, in closing, here's one more scrappy favorite. in cheery Crayola colors

And here's my husband's quilt - all manly colors and flying geese who don't seem to know which way to fly.

I Heart this book!!!

Oh my, oh my, oh me, oh my.....

I think this book is going to change my life........at least my quilting life! (please forgive the flash reflection in the photo)

I have been thinking for a while that it was time to move into more art quilting, but i was absolutely frozen as to what direction to go and how to move forward - it just felt like i needed to jump off into some water and try to swim - but i didn't know how..
Well - i found this WONDERFUL book! It's called "quilted symphony", by an Australian quilter named Gloria Loughman...
OK - I am going to do EVERYTHING in this book, and I just know the things I create will be wonderful and fabulous... and I will enjoy every moment of the process... THANKS, Gloria , for this great book!

Kittehs Love Mother's Day

Even kitteh's love their mamas - especially when mama lets you use her as a pillow!

George (the big one on top) is 15 years old, and his mome is (we think) 16 or 17... and they have spent every day of their lives snuggled up like this... usually she is the one using HIM as a pillow, but on this day, he snuck in a little "buttsy" pillow time himself...

Gracie (the mom) was living under a house we bought, so she adopted us right away when we moved in... and THEN we discovered she was going to bless us with kittens - George is one of the litter of four ... the rest went to good homes.

I have never had related cats before - I didn't know they would be so close...

.....he LOVES his ma.... Happy Mother's Day everyone

How Fun it is to Learn a New Skill

I Do love learning a new skill...

So I am taking a class in hand piecing, at my LQS, with a wonderful teacher named Sharon Stroud.

Here's one of our first projects ... underway... stay tuned - I should have a completed block in , oh, maybe 40 days and 40 nights - oh, oops, that is a different story, isn't it????

Seriously, it really is a lot of fun... so wonderfully self-contained - needle, thread, fabric. Sort of zen-like..

Here's hoping all of us are learning something new all the time.
