Decisions, Decisions - Can You Help?

Well - I have always thought of the hexagon quilt in this orientation, with the red six-pointed star with its points facing top and bottom... like this, with a border below and above.

But, then today, I looked at from the other angle...

like this:  with the flat side of the large border on the left and right...    So now I don't know which one I like best....

WHICH WAY DO YOU LIKE IT????  Please leave me your thoughts....    First one, or Second One???   Many thanks for your feedback..

I worked on some trapunto applique today.... isn't that blue just yummy??
This pattern is from the new Shadow Trapunto book by Geta Grama.  Fabulous patterns.

and Kitty George took a long nap on his favorite skein of yarn... his favorite little pillow...

Happy Quilting Weekend to everyone,

Kate

For some reason #2 reminds me more of an Ohio star and feels more like a "traditional" lay out, where #1 makes the center like a more circular motif. As for preference, DH just walked by and likes #2, I like #1. I'm no help at all, am I?

I like #2. Not sure why, just more visually appealing!

Number 2 speaks to me

For some reason, I can't really see how they're different. Isn't #2 just #1 turned 90 degrees? My brain is befuddled. But I'm liking #2, for whatever that is worth.

I like #1 best. #2 looks like Ohio Star. I missed the beginning of this. Is it your own creation or a pattern you are following? What is its final destination?

I vote #1. It's also exciting that you are planning for retirement! It will be nice to at least have you on the same coast!

Fabulous work on the hexies!
